Trauma Informed Yoga for Children
CPD workshop
Service Description
Childhood experiences can be very different, and many carry the weight of unseen struggles. Whether we're guiding children in schools, yoga studios, or community spaces, it's crucial to recognise that some may have endured trauma, even if it's not immediately apparent. If we don't understand how to share yoga and mindfulness in a way that is sensitive to their feelings, there is a risk of unintentionally triggering, disempowering, or instilling shame. Since trauma resides in the body, skilful approaches are needed to help our students and clients reconnect with and trust their bodies after such experiences. Understanding trauma, how it presents and how to work with it, is key to offering yoga and mindfulness to children. By deepening our understanding of how trauma affects the body and mind, how it influences behaviour, and what tools we can incorporate in the class to empower them, we are creating a safe space which supports their growth The workshop will cover the following topics: *How our nervous system reacts to triggers *Different types of traumas *How to work with trauma using 5 key elements of trauma sensitive yoga *How to help children self regulate *How to empower children *Establish a secure and supportive environment for the healing process We will have opportunities to self reflect on different aspect related to the day including self compassion.
